I don’t know about you…
But winter means much more time spent hibernating indoors. Our bedrooms are the ideal nest to indulge in weekend sleep-ins, breakfast in bed, a good book and dare I say it… Uber Eats and a classic Rom-Com. This month we present a few tips and inspiration for a perfect bedroom revamp, creating your own relaxing haven to snuggle up and beat the winter blues.
COSY COLOUR:
Colour is essential to take into consideration when setting the mood of a bedroom. Dark, rich and bold colours are a beautiful way of enveloping a space and creating a cocoon-like, cosy environment. This winter, prevalent colour trends we are seeing are: Earthy, rich palettes of rust, dark coals and shades of blush. Variations of cobalt blues, balanced with naturally warm tones of honey, wheat and caramel.

ACCESSORISE:
It’s all in the details…
Choosing your lighting, side-tables, plants, rugs, wall décor and ornaments are JUST as important as selecting your doona set or wall colour. Well-considered accessories strengthen and enhance your space and add your own personal design taste. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Mix and match different textures and finishes to create a bespoke look. The hard finishes of metal, smoked glass, raw and polished stone, concrete and wood pair beautifully with soft, tactile textiles. Flowers and plants are a quintessential addition to a room, bringing life, energy and vibrancy – especially in winter when we need it the most.

LAYERING IT UP:
Layering textiles adds warmth, texture, colour and visual interest to a bedroom. Upholstered headboards continue to be a big trend this year. Patterns, plain, tufted, rounded, French seamed and everything in between. Fabric bedheads add depth and tactility creating the perfect backdrop to layer bed linens, scatter cushions, throws and other accessories. The functional yet cold hard concrete and wooden floors in many modern homes are not exactly the first thing you want to put your feet on in the morning… Rugs are a fantastic way of bringing physical and visual warmth to your bedroom.
